Great War Portraits

In August 1984 I took the first photographs for my book 'Great War Portraits' in St Symphorien Military Cemetery. This First World War burial ground is 2 km east of Mons in Belgian. The veterans sitting from left to right are: Bill Jarvis 2/19th Bn. London Regt., Bob Russell 1/8th Bn. King's Liverpool & M.G.C., George Short R.G.A., Bill Partridge 1/7th Bn. Middlesex Regt., Durham Light Infantry & R.A.F., Bill Hay 1/9th Bn. Royal Scots, Alex Gibson M.M., 1/6th Bn. King's Liverpool Regt., M.G.C. Standing back row: John Gower King's Liverpool Regt.
