Bob Russell, 8th Bn. (Irish) Liverpool Regt. and Machine Gun Corps, entertains the local children in Belgium, August 1984. Bob was buried by shell fire, gassed and subjected to 28 days field punishment No.1 for burning a bomb box, he was tied to the wheel of a gun for one hour per day. Delville Wood and Trones Wood on the Somme were the worst places he experienced. He finally contracted typhoid fever in 1918. He's featured in 'Great War Portraits'.
